Dr. Lavender Streiff
Dr. Lavender Streiff graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry. She completed her Optometric Residency in Primary Care (Ocular Disease, Low Vision, and Contact Lens Concentrations) at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Streiff is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Streiff is also a member of the American Academy of Optometry, American Optometric Association, and the Illinois Optometric Association.
You may have noticed or heard that Dr. Streiff’s hours have been reduced. She will be living in central Wisconsin for the next few years with her active duty Army husband and her daughter. Since she is commuting back to see patients, her schedule has been reduced. Dr. Streiff plans to be accessible for patients that prefer to see her but is fully supportive of all of the other doctors in the practice who are wonderful and more than qualified to see her patients. After several more years of potential travel, Dr. Streiff and her family plan to settle back in Chicagoland and her schedule will be expanded. Until then, we appreciate your patience and flexibility.
Dr. Mark Skowron
Dr. Mark Skowron graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1981. Recently, he has received the honor of being elected to serve as the President of the Illinois Optometric Association (IOA), 2017-2018. This position will be the pinnacle of 17 years of service to the organization. He served as President of his local chapter from 1995 to 2005, and has served as a trustee and as secretary treasurer of the IOA for the past 6 years. His duties as President will be to oversee a board of directors of 20, be an advocate for public health and awareness, and represent and protect the 2000 Illinois Optometrists against any legislation that may be potentially harmful to the public or to the profession of Optometry. Since this position requires many days away from the office due to frequent trips down to the Capitol in Springfield and attendance at several national meetings, Dr. Skowron will be taking the year off from seeing patients at Bensenville Eye Care. We wish him well and thank him for his time and dedication to the profession.
